About the ZF wild project
This project started as a portfolio for my personal photographs. However, as a project that is constantly evolving, it is now more than that. My goal here is not only to showcase the Nature & Wildlife surrounding me, but also to state that photography does not need to be done with a top tier camera kit.
The motto here is to expose my story and the nature that surrounds me through photographs, while using fairly priced and portable camera gear. Wildlife photography is undoubtedly an expensive hobby (seeing telephoto lenses priced with 4 and 5 figures makes me crazy!), but I believe that the general public might not be aware that it is possible to achieve great results while keeping it affordable (and avoiding huge and heavy gear).
This website is regularly updated. Not only I will upload new photos, but I will also include some short reviews of gear that I have the chance to use.
About me
Raised in a suburban environment in Porto, Portugal, I found the connection with Nature & Wildlife within the seaside, local parks and zoos. With time and travels, I was privileged to explore some of the country and world's wonders. The academic life was dedicated to animal behaviour, welfare and wildlife conservation.
Today, I am based in Cat Tien National Park, Vietnam, one of the major biodiversity hotspots in South-east Asia. Here, I collaborate with Free The Bears, NGO, taking care of bears rescued from the bear bile industry.
The taste for photography started on the early 2010's and strongly correlates with the increased quality of mobile photography, experienced firstly with the Google Nexus 5 and Sony Xperia collection. Since then, I may call myself a tech addict, with preference for mirrorless cameras, compact phones and value-for-money deals.
Freeze moments, store memories.
